Face symmetry test
What changes when the left half of a smile appears on both sides? Move the center line, switch sides and compare. Use the sample or open a photo privately in this tab.
Open a portrait or reload the fictional example. Move the center line, switch the mirrored side and lower the opacity to see the original underneath.

A fictional sample portrait is loading locally. Open a portrait or reload the fictional example. Move the center line, switch the mirrored side and lower the opacity to see the original underneath.
At full opacity, the selected side supplies both halves of the portrait. Lower the opacity to see where the reflection and the original line up.
Compare the left and right halves of one portrait
- On the sample, move the vertical center line toward the middle of the nose bridge. Check where it passes the lips and chin. If the head is tilted, one vertical line may pass to the side of those landmarks.
- At full opacity, choose Left half → right, then Right half → left. Keep the line still. Each view shows how the portrait looks when the chosen side supplies both halves.
- Lower Mirror opacity to see the original opposite half through the reflection. Look at one detail, such as the edge of a brow, before moving the line again.
Why a smile can change between views
Imagine a portrait with one raised mouth corner. Mirroring that side gives the composite two raised corners. Switching sides can create a flatter expression from the very same photo. A shadow on only one cheek can also appear twice when you mirror the shaded side.
Try a second experiment with the same side selected. Slide the center line slightly toward an eye. Its reflected copy moves closer to that eye because the gap between them is twice the distance from the eye to the line. This change comes entirely from how you placed the mirror.
Face symmetry test questions
Which side does “Left half → right” use?
Left and right refer to what you see on the screen. The tool keeps the left side of the picture and reflects it onto the right. This still holds if your phone saved a mirrored selfie.
Does 80% mirror opacity mean my face is 80% symmetrical?
The percentage controls how strongly the reflected image covers the original half. At 100% you see the reflection at full strength. At 50% you can see both outlines, which makes a shifted eyebrow or mouth corner easier to find.
Why do two photos of me give different mirror images?
Try a level, front-facing portrait with even light and a relaxed expression. A head turn can reveal more of one cheek. A smile or light from one side changes the details that get copied across the center line.
Can this picture tell whether a facial difference has a medical cause?
A mirrored photograph cannot establish a cause or provide a clinical assessment. The tool lets you inspect what changes when one side of this particular image is reflected.
How do I remove my photo?
Choose Reset tool to clear the image and restore the mirror settings. Your photo is opened locally in this browser tab. Choose Reload fictional example to start again with the sample.
