Preparing your six portraits…

How My Type Quiz turns picks into a pattern

It can be easier to recognize a face you like than to describe your type. One portrait might catch your eye because of a smile. In another, you might notice the shape of a pair of glasses before you notice anything else. You can make both picks without deciding which detail matters more.

Facet gives you six portraits at a time. Pick the ones that hold your attention, then move on when you are ready. Try looking across the whole set first. If you like two quite different faces, tap both. The interesting part is what turns up again once the first six pictures are long gone.

Why the number you saw matters

A glance at your favorites tells only part of the story. If nearly everyone in a set has short hair, you could collect several short-haired favorites even if hair length barely registers for you. A portrait with short hair and glasses can also count toward both features.

For each marked feature, the quiz counts how many portraits you selected out of the ones you actually saw with it. It also looks at how often you chose faces without that feature, and whether the difference came up across sets. Portraits left in the bank do not count toward your result.

Read the faces beside the finding

When there is enough evidence after eight sets, your type card brings back three portraits from your picks. Look for the detail named on the card. It may show up on faces with quite different hairstyles or expressions. Only you can say whether that detail was what drew you to a particular picture.

Your type name describes this round. It cannot tell you someone’s personality, who you should date, or how you would feel in person. If your selections do not support a repeated preference, the quiz offers more free sets while there are fresh portraits to show. You can see how a finished observation reads in the worked sample report.

Before you pick

Do I have to pick a favorite in every set?

You can choose several faces, leave the whole set blank, or tap a selected face again to remove it. The next set opens when you press the button below the pictures. If none of the six catches your eye, skip the set and see what turns up in the next one.

What if I like lots of different kinds of faces?

Choose all the ones you like. The results can reflect a detail that crosses several styles, such as glasses appearing in portraits with quite different haircuts. If the choices are too spread out to support a finding, you can try another free set. You can also finish without a label.

Can I change which portraits I see?

Everyone includes both the Men and Women portrait banks. You can switch to one bank using the controls above the pictures. Once you have submitted a set, changing banks asks you to start a fresh run, so the two sets of answers stay separate.

Are these real people, and do you need a photo of me?

The portraits are fictional adults created in advance for Facet. There are no dating profiles behind the pictures. The quiz asks which faces you would pick from a set. You do not upload a selfie, create an account, or give an email address to get your free result.

What can a friend see if I share?

Saving the image makes a copy for you. When you use Share to make a link, you choose whether to include the type name, representative portraits and short comment. A friend following that link sees your chosen details and can start their own quiz. You can revoke the link from your result.
